

WEBBER, William Slade “Billy”, III, 68, of Ashland, entered into peace on January 24, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Slade Webber Jr. and Ellen Sibley Webber; and brother-in-law, Kenneth L. Allen. He is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Barbara F. Webber; sister, Nancy W. Allen of Rocky Mt., N.C.; nephew, Kenneth L. Allen Sr. of Charlotte, N.C.; niece, Kendall A. Smith of Seattle, Wash.; four great-nephews; stepdaughters, Lauren Douglas, Leah Escobar, Krista Bourne; a special stepson-in-law, “Bennie” A. Bourne; and six stepgrandchildren. He was a beloved son-in-law and brother-in-law. He graduated from Patrick Henry High School, attended VMI, and served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Yorktown. He later worked at The Hollows Golf Course. Billy was a very kind, thoughtful, generous and grateful person. He cared deeply for animals and loved his predeceased “pet family,” Flash, Springer, Spottswood, Jazmin and his horse, “HW.” A memorial service will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home, Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, Va., at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2016. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Baptist Church TV Ministry, 2709 Monument Ave., Richmond, Va. 23230, SPCA or a charity of your choice.
