

Alvin Christian Kornum, age 86, passed away March 8, 2012, in the Assiniboia Union Hospital Integrated Facility, Assiniboia, SK. Alvin was born December 17, 1925, on the Family farm, south of Fife Lake, SK to Paul and Mabel Kornum. Alvin attended Goose Greek School. Then he worked in garages at Pense and Kelvington. Alvin loved the farm and spent most of his life working the land. He also loved raising cattle, sheep, and a faithful farm dog. Alvin was baptized in November 1974. He liked to talk to people about the Kingdom Hope. Alvin married the love of his life, Irene Ottesen, on March 7, 1973. Together they spent 28 years farming, haying, and gardening. Alvin would play violin and accordion for his own enjoyment. Alvin also liked to do mechanic work and welding. Due to ill health, in the fall of 2001 they sold the farm they loved so much and moved into Assiniboia. Alvin was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Mabel Kornum; his brothers, Norman and Clarence; his sisters, Anna and Cheryl and nephews. Alvin is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Irene; his youngest brother Edwin of Copper Sands and oldest sister Pauline McQuaig of Calgary; as well as many nieces and nephews, great and great-great. Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, March 13, 2012,at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, Assiniboia, SK., with speaker, Fred Reynoldson. Donations in Memory of Alvin, may be made to the Assiniboia Union Hospital Integrated Facility (South Country Health Care Foundation). Interment in the Fife Lake Cemetery will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia, SK.
