Archibald Wilson

On Friday, August 28, 2015, Archie Wilson, of Assiniboia, SK, passed away at his home, at age 91. Predeceased by parents, Allan and Jane (Wood), wife Thelma (Derbyshire), nee Jenner, one sister Margaret (Gordon) Ross and sons-in-law John Spicer and Leo Marchand, Archie is survived by companion Bernice Dyck; four children: son Bill (Kathy) Wilson and family: Lana (Clay), Owen, Jonathan, Isaac; Carolyn, Lauren, Marshall, Brock; Claire (Giselle), Nora; daughter Shirley Marchand and family: Nadine (Stacy); Jeff (Elisha), Jake, Nixon, Lincoln, Hudson; Chantal; son Ted (Julie) Derbyshire and family: Steven (Cari), Zachary; Roger (Deanna), Paula, Michael, Natalie; Linda (Claude), Joel, Samantha, Victoria; daughter Rose Spicer and family: Heather (Terry) Kyle, (Dani), Adam, Tom (Erin), Brody; Scott (Inga). Archie Wilson was born October 2, 1923 in Assiniboia, Sask., and was raised in the Zenith district on his parents’ farm. He went to Zenith School until the age of 16 when he started farming with his dad. In 1965, Archie built a home in Assiniboia but continued to farm until 1977 when he sold his land to his son Bill. Archie’s life was his family and his passion for farming. He was a progressive farmer. In 1994, he purchased a half section of land that gave him a purpose in his retirement years. Farming was his life until his last days. It didn’t matter what topic was being discussed, it always came back to the farm. Archie had a devoted love for his family and kept in touch with what was happening in their lives. He was proud of all their accomplishments no matter how big or small. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed traveling, fishing and his winters spent in Arizona. While he will be greatly missed, he will always be remembered for his positive attitude and generosity towards his family and friends. Funeral Service was held on Friday, September 4, 2015 in Ross Funeral Chapel. Reverend Marilyn Leuty officiated. Tributes were given by Kathy Wilson and Heather Hobbs. Pallbearers were grandchildren: Jeff Marchand, Nadine Marchand, Heather Hobbs, Lana Wilson, Roger Derbyshire and Claire Wilson. Interment in Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia, Sk.
