Clara Esther Schneikart

Clara Schneikart, of Carlyle, Sask., formerly of Crane Valley, Sask. passed away August 1, 2013 at age 90. Clara Esther Booth was born April 1, 1923 on the family farm in the Readlyn District. She was one of four siblings. She attended Eniscorthy School until grade 8 and then stayed home to take care of her mother and to help on the family farm. She met George Schneikart from the Crane Valley area and were married November 20, 1945 in Assiniboia, Sask. and welcomed three children: Robert, Annette and Janice. She worked at the Crane Valley grocery store for a couple of years. Clara liked to go to dances, playing cards, gardening, curling, going to baseball games, cooking and loved ice cream. She was an excellent housekeeper. Whenever anybody came over for a visit they always left with a full belly. She was a farmer’s wife driving the grain truck at harvest time, as well as helping out with the pigs, horses and chickens. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Clara and George loved to travel with their family, relatives and friends. Quite a few trips were made with Uncle Bill and Auntie Violet Jukes and family --- they actually had matching cars and trailers. There were lots of family gatherings and fishing trips. Clara was a member of the 49 Club in Crane Valley. Predeceased by her husband George, sister Edith Strand, brother Oswald Booth, infant granddaughter Teresa, brothers-in-law Adam, Reinhold, infant George, sisters-in-law Sophie, Betty, Eva, Helen, Violet and infant Violet, Clara is survived by three children: Bob and wife Mary Schneikart, Annette and husband George Lees, and Janice and husband Jim Sipchenko; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, brother Delbert and wife Mary Booth, sister-in-law Ellen Arnold, brother-in-law Elmer Liefso and families. Funeral Service was held Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Ross Funeral Chapel, Assiniboia, Sask. Reverend Marilyn Leuty officiated. Tribute was given by granddaughter Angela Englot. Pallbearers were grandchildren: Karla Schneikart, Andrea Steeves, Corey Lees, Angela Englot, Deborah Lipinski, Darrell Sipchenko, Anna Duncan, and Matthew Sipchenko. Interment followed in Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia, Sask. Donations in Memory of Clara may be made to the SK Heart & Stroke Foundation and/or St. Paul’s United Church Memorial Fund.
