With extremely heavy hearts we say goodbye to a loving and kind husband, dad, son, brother, uncle and friend. On November 13, 2025, Conrad Larry Gerde of Coronach SK passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the age of 41.
Conrad was born in Regina, SK on a cold and stormy January 6, 1984 to Larry and Mary Ann Gerde. He joined big sisters Alanne and Kristen to complete the family.
Conrad was a rambunctious child, attending Coronach School from K·12. He enjoyed his school days and liked to go back and admire his collection of athletic banners from his discuss glory days.
After graduating high school in 2002, he worked very briefly in the Alberta oil fields before moving to Medicine Hat to live with his sister Kristen and work for a playground equipment company. After a year there, he moved to Regina to live with his other sister Alanne and try a semester of university. It wasn't for him, so next he joined some buddies core sampling for Luscar.
During this time, Conrad met the love of his life, Raelynn Hesjedal, while ringing in 2005 at a New Year's Eve cabaret in Bengough, SK. They quickly became inseparable.
After Conrad completed his power engineering 4th class ticket in Estevan, they made a brief stop in Weyburn where he worked at the Co-op Ethanol Complex before he secured a job at the SaskPower Poplar River Power Station in 2007 and they moved back home.
They were married on December 1, 2007 in Bengough and settled into their newly built house in the town of Coronach. They remained there until 2017 whereupon they moved out to the family farm. Conrad continued to work at SaskPower until 2021 when he 'retired' to focus on farming full-time.
Conrad and Rae welcomed three beautiful children through the years. Marlee was born in 2008, Karis came next in 2011 and finally Cohen in 2013. They loved their farming and ranching lifestyle and working together as a family to run a beef and grain operation with horses, chickens, cattle dogs and barn cats in the mix. The Gerdes made sure to take time to make as many family memories as possible by camping, taking trips and supporting their kids' extracurricular activities which included music, school sports, baseball, 4-H and barrel racing.
Conrad enjoyed hunting, fishing, slow-pitch and singing. He was also involved in curling and was the proud president of the Coronach Curling Club. He was a devoted supporter of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Toronto Blue Jays, Aust's/Big Beaver General Store and the Badland Country Band. He was an active member of his community, always willing to lend a hand. He was available for anyone and everyone.
Conrad was diagnosed with cancer in early 2024 and fought the disease with bravery and positivity until his passing.
Conrad is survived by his wife Raelynn, three children Marlee, Karis and Cohen, his parents Larry & Mary Ann, sisters Alanne & Paul Lapierre and Kristen & Kevin Whelen and their families; in-laws Todd Hesjedal (Susan Guraluick), Nadine (Randy Schmaltz), brother-in-law Blake & Stacey Hesjedal, sisters-in-law Kimberley & Pete Wright and Aimee & Jarret Loehndorf, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many many dear friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre in Regina and the ICU team at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon for the excellent care he received.
A Celebration of Conrad’s life will be held Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 2:00 pm in the Coronach Curling Rink. Interment at the Buffalo Gap Cemetery followed by fellowship and lunch.
