Corinne Victorinne Lanoie passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on March 20th, 2013 at the age of 91 years. Corinne was born November 29th, 1921 on the family’s farm in the Joeville district west of Lisieux. She was the oldest of 12 children and grew up in a close, loving family that lived their lives by Christian values. Her childhood years during the dirty thirties taught her a lot about discipline, hard word and respect, values which she carried forward into her adult life. She met Rosario Lanoie at a box social in 1941 where he outbid all the men in a rigged auction to win Corinne’s baking. They were married on November 17th, 1942. Together they raised 8 children on the family farm where all learned the value of a good day’s work. Corinne loved being outdoors and especially gardening. Her gardens were a sight to behold! Family and friends were always welcome, well fed and company was enjoyed. Always one for details, Corinne knew every cow, not by their tag number, but by looking at them. She often pulled many all-nighters as an accomplished seamstress sewing 5 matching dressed and ribbons for the girls and sometimes for their dollies too. Corinne was an excellent cook and known for her baking. She took pride in creating huge meals making sure all were full and happy at family gatherings. Corinne enjoyed her golden years doing some traveling, then moving to Assiniboia and then to Grasslands Health Centre in Rockglen. Two bulletin boards were not enough to hold all the pictures of her loved ones, every wall was covered with photos. After starting her life with very humble beginnings and hard times, she ended with everything she cherished – her family.
Corinne was predeceased by 4 brothers and 5 sisters, her infant twins, Pierre and Pierrette, her son Albert, her beloved husband Rosario, son-in-law Xavier Bouvier, as well as many other family members. Corinne will be forever loved and remembered by her family: Yvette (Bill) McPeek, Jeanne Bouvier, Dolorès (Joe Sabourin), Gérald (Lynn) Lanoie, Alice (Clifton) Baker, Colette Sabourin, Roger (Joan) Lanoie along with her precious 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her two sisters Monique Dumonceau and Elizabeth Martin.
The Prayer Vigil took place on March 24th, 2013 at Ross Funeral Chapel, Assiniboia SK and the Funeral Mass was held on March 25th, 2013 at St. Ignace Roman Catholic Church, Willow Bunch, SK with Father Andrew Pawlowicz Celebrant. Interment followed at St. Victor Roman Catholic Cemetery, St Victor, SK. Donations in memory of Corinne may be made to the Rockglen Health Care Auxiliary Memorial Fund. The family wishes to thank those who took good care of Corinne over the years and to Ross Funeral Service for their guidance.
