

Daniel Malesh was born February 28, 1928 and passed away peacefully on March 3, 2017, three days after celebrating his 89th birthday. Dan was born and raised on the family farm near Stonehenge, Saskatchewan. He was the third of 10 children born to Mike and Victoria Malesh. Dan started farming at the tender age of 14, following the sudden death of his father. In 1959 he married Edith Hesterman and they continued to farm and raise their family on the same land where Dan was born. Three daughters were born to Dan and Edith: Terry in 1960, Wendy in 1962 and Debbie in 1968. Dan was very involved in the Assiniboia Rodeo Association, acting as Arena Manager for many years. He was a 4-H Leader and a member of the Ag Society. He loved playing ball and curling in his younger years, and he and Edith enjoyed square and round dancing, playing cards and travelling. Dan was predeceased by his loving wife Edith in 1995, his father Mike in 1942, his mother Victoria in 2010, and his sister Eileen Hepworth in 2015. Dan was also predeceased by his brothers-in-law Ted Clarke, Moe Campbell, Henry Hepworth, Martin Hesterman, Gordon Hesterman and Bob George. Dan is survived by his three daughters and their spouses; Terry and Gregg Orban, Wendy and Kevin West, and Debbie and Wayne Giraudier. Dan also leaves to mourn his grandchildren Kimberly Giraudier, Jeremy Giraudier (Mandy), Sara West, Billy West, Lonnie West, Danny Giraudier Malesh, and Bryce West, and great-grandchildren Corson and Monroe Giraudier. Also surviving Dan are his siblings: Mary Campbell, Anne (Jim) White, Laura Malesh, George (Bette) Malesh, Marjorie (Murle) Johnson, Betty Clarke, Pearl (Wallace) Markwart, and Roamie Malesh. A Celebration of Dan’s Life was held on Wednesday, March 15, at 2:00 pm at St. George’s R.C. Parish Hall in Assiniboia, SK.
