Darryl Joseph Baniulis

Darryl Joseph Baniulis passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 1, 2013 in Assiniboia, SK, surrounded by his wife and children. Darryl was born September 9, 1951 in Oxbow, SK to Joseph and Betty Baniulis. He was raised on the farm in North Portal, SK and graduated from Weldon High School in Bienfait, SK in 1969. Darryl attended Heavy Equipment Mechanics at SIAST in Saskatoon, SK and continued on to achieve his journeyman status. Darryl married his wife and best friend, Cheryl Elaine Duncan in Coronach, SK on June 28, 1974. The couple moved from Winnipeg to Estevan, SK in 1976, where they had two daughters, Lisa and Trisha and Darryl worked for M&S Coal. In 1979 they moved to Coronach, SK, where they had their son Todd, and Darryl worked for Sask Power. They continued to work, live and raise their family in Coronach, SK. Darryl loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. He always loved a good laugh even if the laughter came at his expense. He was a wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. Darryl is survived by his wife of 39 years, Cheryl, daughters Lisa Kelly (Chris), and Trisha Mattson, son Todd Baniulis (Kimberly), and grandchildren Daine Mattson, Mackenzie Kelly, Olivia and Ethan Baniulis, parents Joseph and Betty Baniulis, brothers Barry, Lorie, Gene and Wendel and their families. Darryl is predeceased by his mother and father-in-law John and Anne Duncan, brother Reginald Baniulis, grandson Declan Kelly, grandparents Roy and Gertrude Trenouth, Alfie and Nellie Baniulis and numerous other family members. Service of Remembrance for Darryl was held Friday, December 6, 2013 at Elks Community Hall, Coronach, SK. Reverend Ian Kellogg officiated and Scripture Reader was daughter-in-law, Kimberly. Tributes were given by son, Todd and brother, Gene. Donations in Memory of Darryl may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia, SK.
