Don Walters

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father and grandfather, Donald Walters. Don was born October 26th, 1933 on the family farm near Lafleche to Arthur and Julia (nee Huber). He was the eldest of eight, having four brothers and three sisters. He grew up in Melaval, where his dad worked for the C.P.R., ran the grader for the Dept. of Highways, and farmed.

Don met his wife, Madeline Morrison, in Lafleche. They married June 5th, 1953, moving to Assiniboia and starting their family of three: Evan, Trevor and Tammie. The family moved several times: Swift Current, SK, Drumheller, AB, Melfort, SK, and back to Assiniboia in 1976.

Don passed away peacefully on October 1st, 2023 at Assiniboia Union Hospital. He was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Madeline, (Feb 15, 2022), parents, Art and Julia Walters, siblings: Roger Walters, Garry (Jean) Walters, Louise (Ralph) Lachowitzer, Robert (Dianne) Walters, Elaine Johnson, Carole (Bob) Collinson. Donnie will be deeply missed by his children: Evan (Cathy), Trevor (Nicole), and Tammie (Brian); grandchildren, Riah, Megan, and Payton; brother Jerry (Lucille), sister-in-law Shirley Walters; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Greatest appreciation to Dr. Carulei and nursing staff of Assiniboia Union Hospital.

A Family Graveside Service for Madeline and Don will be held at Ste Radegonde R.C. Cemetery, Lafleche, SK in spring of 2024.
