Mr. Dwight Forwood

March 13, 1945 – December 17, 2023

Dwight Peploe Forwood, loved and cherished husband and father, passed away peacefully at Assiniboia Union Hospital, Long Term Care on December 17, 2023, at the age of 78 years. Dwight was predeceased by his parents Peploe (2009) and Pearl (2020).

Dwight attended Guilford country school until its closure, he then went to Wood Mountain to finish his high school. Dwight attended DeVry Technical School in Toronto, and after graduating worked at the CBC for nine years as a cameraman and switcher.

Dwight married the love of his life, Karin Harris, in Toronto on July 10, 1971. Their first child Jason was born in Toronto on November 28, 1972. In the spring of 1973 the little family packed up their belongings into a three-ton truck and made the 1800 mile trek to Wood Mountain, Saskatchewan to the family farm. Two more children joined the family, Kevin in 1975 and Allison in 1978. Dwight and Karin farmed together with his parents Peploe and Pearl until their retirement in 1978.

Dwight was involved in his community and his children’s activities as a hockey coach at Glentworth for several years; as the general leader of the Wood Mountain 4-H Club; he was a counselor for R.M. 43 for five years, and was a Sask Wheat Pool delegate for 15 years.

Dwight was the proud grandpa of eleven precious grandchildren; Jason (Tammy Laliberte) Wyatt, Darby, and Riley; Kevin (Melissa Bender) Shelby, Sadie, Harley, Heston and Carter; Allyson (Blayne Klein) Tayce, Taylor and Bower. Dwight and Karin retired to Wood Mountain in 2016.

A celebration of Dwight’s life was held at the Assiniboia Alliance Church on Friday, December 22, 2023. The service was conducted by Pastor Todd Moroz, Pastor Lionel Moffat and Pastor Rick Aupperle, all friends of Dwight. Soloist and friend Lorry Okraincee lifted our spirits with the singing of ‘Amazing Grace’ and ‘Show Me Around’. Fellowship and refreshments were provided by Wood Mountain Alliance Church. Interment will be held at Morgan Cemetery at a later date.
