Edward Ed Short Short

Edward Short, of Assiniboia, SK, formerly of Limerick, SK, passed away April 9, 2013 at age 88. Ed was born October 21, 1924 on the family farm, Big Beaver district. Ed grew up on the family farm and attended Ipsli Mount School, north of Big Beaver. At an early age, he worked for various ranchers and broke horses. In 1952, he started employment with the C.P.R. and lived in many areas of southern Saskatchewan: East Poplar, Bex Hill, Maxstone, Kerrobert and Val Marie. Their last move was to Limerick in 1983 and Ed retired in 1985. Clara and Ed were married on June 22, 1956 at Big Beaver. Predeceased by his loving wife Clara (nee Doben) (Oct. 11, 2012), Ed is survived by daughters: Jean Short (Wayne Nelson), Laurie (Darcy) Tollefson and Sherry (David) Gebhardt; 9 grandchildren: Tiffany Gallup, Marty Forsberg, Kelly, Trevor, Jason Tollefson, Sara, Chrystal, Tenille, Tyler Gebhardt; 9 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous other relatives.

Funeral Service was held on Saturday April 13, 2013 at 1:00 PM at St. Paul’s United Church, Assiniboia, SK. The Reverend Marilyn Leuty officiated. Tributes were given by daughter, Jean and niece, Donna McGhee. Pallbearers were nephews: Steve, Dale, Rocky Lidberg, John Short, Regan Reinhardt, Keith Garbutt. Interment followed in Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia, SK. Donations in Memory of Ed may be made to the Prairie Villa Inc. Arrangements entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia, SK.
