

Elmer Munford of McCord, Sask., passed away November 11, 2013 at the Gravelbourg Hospital, Gravelbourg, Sask. Elmer was born Elmer Leslie Munford on November 25, 1923 in the family sod house south west of McCord, Sask. Elmer was the fourth child and only son in a family of six born to Alfred and Sarah Munford. He quit school in grade 8 and spent the rest of his active life involved in farming and cattle. Elmer married Emily June Gordon on October 23, 1954 and together they raised a family of six children. His life revolved around his family and his farm, taking great pride in each. He was very active in the community spending over 30 years as a director of the Credit Union and the Coop. Elmer was also active with the Sask. Department of Agriculture serving on an Agriculture Reporting board for a number of years. He was an avid ball player, hockey player and curler as well as coaching ball and hockey through the years his family was growing up. His pride and love of his family and farm is evident as he attended a family reunion near Calgary in August of this year with around 100 family members in attendance. He made a point of touring the farm about a week before his passing to check out the cows and calves freshly home from summer pasture.
Predeceased by his wife of 58 years June Munford in August, 2013, his parents Alfred and Sarah Munford, three sisters Mildred, Francis and Lauretta, and brothers-in-law Mervin and Gordon, Elmer is survived by six children: Gary (Denise), Elaine Munford (Bud), Keith (Michelle), Marilyn (Bill) Flynn, Glen, and Lisa (Nevin) Stangler; grandchildren: Ronald (Kristine), Colton, Tyler, Larson, Keasto, Terence, Dustin, Stephanie (Martin), Shelby, Gina, Amanda, Kimber, Shenae, Damon, Jolene, Skylae, Brooke, Tia, Tkeyae, and Martine and great-grandchildren: Vanessa and Braxton, siblings: John (Doreen) Gordon, Don (Joan) Gordon, and Ruth (Alvin) Yeo, brother-in-law Wallace Boughen, as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral Service was held Sunday, November 17, 2013 in the McCord United Church, McCord, SK. Reverend Mathias Ross officiated. Interment followed in the McCord Cemetery. Donations in Memory of Elmer may be made to the McCord United Church Memorial Fund
