Erlinga was born on October 24, 1917, at Beaver Creek, SK. She married Harry in 1936, and they lived in Spring Dell where they raised their four boys. They sold the farm to Dean in 1980, and in 1985 moved their house to Bengough. Erlinga moved into the Bengough Health Centre in November of 2006 where she resided until her passing. She is survived by her four sons; Garry (Joan), Marvin (Shirley), Dean (Bernice), Howard (Gailene); nine grandchildren; Mark, Lee (Leanne), Della (Dan), Kelly (Grant), Penny (Dale), Jeff (Donna), Kevin (Danette), Justin (Elaine), Joey (Charla); sixteen great-grandchildren; Chase, Tylan, Cody, Shelby, Dallas, Boycie, Delaney, Lane, Brayden, Jesse, Jamie, Calvin, Christa, Cayla, Macey and Jase; two great-great-grandchildren; Emma and Oliver; two sisters-in-law; Muriel Lee (Arthur) and Ina Lee (Oscar) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Erlinga worked very hard on the farm, raising chickens, milking cows, gardening, doing home repairs, cooking, baking, and keeping an impeccable household that was a welcome haven to all the boy's friends and boarded many of the Spring Dell school teachers. Erlinga loved music and spent many hours entertaining many on the piano. Harry and Erlinga formed an orchestra, "The Big Muddy Country Oldtimers," and played for many dances around the community. After Harry's passing she played the piano at the drop-in and the home in Bengough. She joined up with a few others and formed another band and played at the home, villa and Pangman and also played with the Ogema girls. She will be remembered by many for her unlimited energy, always socializing, playing cards, playing the piano, never sitting still, and always with a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye.
Funeral service was held at Knox United Church, Bengough, SK, on September 13 with Sylvia Fitzgerald D.L.M. officiating. Interment followed at the Big Beaver Cemetery. Donations in Memory of Erlinga can be made to the Bengough Health Centre (PO Box 399, Bengough, SK S0C 0K0). Arrangements entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia, SK.
