Florence Myrtle Bates

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Momma, Grandma, Great Grandma, and Great-Great Grandma, Florence (Grandma Flo) Myrtle Bates (nee Hayes). She was born in Barnston, Quebec on March 24, 1925, and slipped peacefully into the arms of her Lord, Jesus, on May 3, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. in her home of nine years in Osoyoos, B.C., at the age of 97, with her daughter Lynda, her sole caregiver by her side.

Florence is survived by her sons; James (Corinne) Bates, Donald Bates; daughter, Lynda (Mike) Zimmer; brother-in-law, Alex Popoff; and her greatest blessings of all, 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and amazing old and new friends.

She was predeceased by her best friend and beloved husband of 64 years, Wallace (Wally) Bates; son, Richard Bates; daughter, Margaret Bates.

A Celebration of Life took place at Park Drive Church in Oliver, BC on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. The service was be livestreamed. Graveside Service will be held on September 15, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia, SK
