

Floyd Nelson, lifelong resident of the Ormiston district, passed away February 10, 2012 at age 84, with family at his side. Floyd is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joyce (Bosman); four daughters: Cheryl (Robert) Harris, Wanda (Maurice) O’Reilly, Marlene Nelson and Shawna Nelson (John Paradon); grandchildren: Breanne, Dylan Harris; Amanda (Rodney), Travis, Brandon O’Reilly; Alisha, Mariah Nelson, one sister Evelyn (Gary) Roszell, sisters-in-law Jenny Nelson and Roselda Nelson as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives. Floyd was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Inga (nee Stianson); siblings: Percy (Laura), Cecil, Elda (Richard) Fayant and Ernest.
Floyd James Nelson was born August 7, 1927, on the homestead, Ormiston district, SK. His main livelihood was farming, remaining on the original Nelson homestead until November 2010, when for health reasons they moved to Moose Jaw. Floyd enjoyed playing the accordion, which he learned at the age of five, and bought his own accordion at the age of ten. He also enjoyed travelling, playing cards, dancing, polka festivals and mechanics. Floyd’s love of life was his family and spending time with them.
Funeral Service was held Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Ross Funeral Chapel. Pastor Arden Barden officiated. Tribute was given by Dallas Loken. Pallbearers were: Wayne Nelson, Jerry Fayant, Keith Roszell, Mike Roszell, Kevin Roszell, and Terry Nesvold. Interment followed in Wenaus Cemetery, Ormiston District, SK. Donations in Memory of Floyd may be made to the Sask. Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Wenaus Cemetery Memorial Fund, c/o RM Excel #71, Box 100, Viceroy, S0H 4H0. Arrangements entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia, SK.
