Gerald Joseph Farwell

Gerald Farwell, of Assiniboia, SK, passed away June 11, 2012 at age 95. Gerald Joseph was born on the family farm, December 1, 1916. He was the eldest child of Alex and Emma Farwell. Gerald married Helen Kwasnicki on October 4, 1939 (a double wedding ceremony with Joe and Geraldine Kwasnicki). Gerald and Helen lived on the Farwell homestead, south of Willows, until retiring to Assiniboia in 1969. Gerald enjoyed the farm life, fishing, driving around the countryside, playing cards and dancing. He was a 52 year member of the Knights of Columbus.

Gerald is survived by his wife Helen, seven children: Wilfred (Aline), Sharon (Wally) Hovrisko, Donald (Joyce), Janice (Barry) Schau, Alan (Denise), Carla (Kim) Leduc and Dean and their families, sisters-in-law Minnie and Georgette, numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, grandson Grant and all his siblings: Herb, Wilbert, Eileen (Phil) Strickland, Berniece (John) Kessler, Carl (Marie), Lorraine (Jon) Leicester.

Funeral Mass was celebrated Friday, June 15, 2012 in St. George’s Roman Catholic Church, Assiniboia, SK. Pallbearers were: Chris Leduc, Levi Leduc, Chance Peutert, Allister Kessler, Lorne Kwasnicki, and Stan Peutert. Interment in Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia, SK.
