Guy Roger Delorme

August 17, 1943 – November 8, 2024

Guy’s family is sad to announce his passing after a long battle with cancer.

Guy was born on the family farm in St. Victor in 1943 to Leo and Lucia (Leduc) Delorme, the 10th of 12 children. He attended school in St. Victor and then took tech at College Mathieu in Gravelbourg. He married Shirley Wood in 1966 and they had two children, Joanne and Wayne. They took over the Wood family farm east of Willow Bunch and spent many years farming and raising pigs and cattle. He also loved training his horses; he was a bonafide cowboy. After the kids were grown, he sold the farm and bought a cattle ranch north of Assiniboia. He then moved on to Tisdale where he worked as a welder and fabricator, and later assisted with farming at a large operation just outside of town. In 2014, Guy returned to his roots and settled back in St. Victor on a beautiful property in town.

Guy acquired his first guitar at a young age and enjoyed playing with his musical family. He was an avid hunter, winning trophies, and was a member of the Wildlife Federation. Family vacations were spent up north fishing. At home, he enjoyed auction sales, tractor pulls, and rodeos. He rode ATVs, motorcycles and snowmobiles. He was famous for retiring... then going back to work. Even during his later years in St. Victor he continued to weld and fabricate and grew a large garden every year. He preserved and froze the fruits of his labour and enjoyed sharing it with family and friends. He also began cooking more during this time, his freezer overflowing with soups and stews. In one way or another, he spent his life feeding people but no matter the task, he did it with such care and precision that his work was often referred to by others as “Delorme-made” -exact, and built to last.

Guy is predeceased by his parents Leo and Lucia; stepmother Marie; brothers Leo Paul, Bernard, Andre and Camille; sisters Fernande, Sylvianne, Odette and Lise. He is survived by his children Joanne (Travis) and Wayne; grandchildren Aiden and Dean; brothers Jean and Daniel; sister Colette; cherished friends Lynda, Shirley and “my second daughter” Nicole. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

A celebration of Guy’s life was held Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 1:00 pm in Ross Funeral Chapel.

Fellowship and lunch followed at St. George's Parish Hall. Interment at St. Victor Cemetery, St. Victor, SK
