

Harold lived in the Lakenheath district until 1953 when the family moved to a farm in the Willows district. He worked on the family farm as well as the Coop as a plumber’s assistant until 1969, when he moved his family to Assiniboia. Harold worked as a mechanic at the Chrysler dealership followed by time at Clermont Equipment.
In 1979, he moved to Estevan where he continued to work as a mechanic. While in Estevan he met and married Josie (Jean) on September 3, 1982. They moved back to Assiniboia in 1983, where they purchased and ran J.H. Car Care until they sold the business in 1994. Harold spent his retirement years helping his sister and brother-in-law on their family farm near Tuxford. He enjoyed many seasons of seeding and especially combining during harvest. He also enjoyed spending time working on vehicles of friends and family. Harold was a proud and valued member of the Assiniboia Volunteer Fire Department for 28 years. During this time he was continually upgrading his skills.
Predeceased by his parents Fred and Erna Ermel, Harold is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Josie; daughter, Debbie (Wayne); son Dennis (Lynn); grandchildren, Chris (Denise), Brad, Tessa, Dylan, and Lexi; sister Loretta (Bob), brothers Ralph (Diana), Vern (Sharon); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service was held on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in Ross Funeral Chapel, Assiniboia, SK. Neil Gilbert officiated. Harold’s grandchildren served as pallbearers. Music ministry led by St. Paul’s United Church Choir accompanied by organist Lori Klein. Hymns: Processional – “Peace In The Valley”, “Nearer My God To Thee”, Choir Anthem – “I Was There To Hear Your Borning Cry”, “What A Friend We Have In Jesus”, Recessional – “Green, Green, Grass of Home”. Donations in memory of Harold may be made to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation or the Lupus Society of Saskatchewan. Arrangements entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia, SK.
