Helen was born on April 12, 1925 at the family farm NE 20-07-03-W3, near Limerick. The Kosti's were known to have the first two storey house and Ford Model T in the district. Having lived over 100 years, she shared stories with her family of the Great Depression of the 1930’s, the Second World War, the rationing of goods, and the loss of her mother when she was eleven years old. She proved to her children that when the going gets tough, the tough get going.
When Victor and Helen married on Dec. 4, 1943, they settled on a farm near Crane Valley where they not only grew grain but also raised cattle. During their 54 years of marriage various ranches were owned at Wood Mountain, Willow Bunch and St. Victor. It meant Helen was cleaning more than one house with her Mr. Clean. Helen’s twelve years at the St. Victor ranch were most enjoyable because she loved the outdoors and the peacefulness.
In 1960, they moved the family to Assiniboia where she participated in curling and bowling. She also joined the Royal Purple. She and a group of ladies put on skits and entertained all over the province, mostly at curling events. She enjoyed playing cards at the 55 Club in Assiniboia and traveled to card tournaments.
Helen was exceptionally good at refinishing furniture and cross stitching. Many pictures were given to family members.
Helen’s grandchildren remember their grandmother who brought them trays of glazed doughnuts and jam-filled bismarks. She was also known to bake a dozen Saskatoon berry pies in one morning because Victor loved berry picking.
Predeceased by her husband Victor, her parents John and Muranda, two sisters Fanny (George) Tatoui and Mary Kosti, ten brothers: Ted (Helen), Archie, John (Mona), Louie, Pete, Nick and Fred (twins), Gilbert (Phyllis), George and Steve and son-in-law Roy Rowley.
