

Howard Fitzpatrick, of Assiniboia, SK, passed away December 18, 2012 at age 88. Howard was born January 8, 1924 at Moose Jaw, SK, and grew up on the family farm in the Fir Mountain District. Following his schooling at Gwendala, Howard took up farming and ranching with his parents, and later bought the home farm. He also worked for the C.P.R. during the winter months for a number of years. For one winter, he worked in the bush camp at Port Arthur, Ontario. He farmed until 1972, when he retired and moved to Fir Mountain. In 1987, Howard moved to Assiniboia and took up residence at McMorine Manor. Due to failing health, Howard moved to Ross Payant Nursing Home. Howard was an active member of the Catholic Church at Glentworth and later at Assiniboia. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Howard took a keen interest in politics. In early years he enjoyed curling and taking children on trail rides. He spent time working at the regional and historic parks at Wood Mountain. Predeceased by his parents, Jack and Hazel; infant sister, Helen and his brother, Dennis; Howard is survived by his sister Coletta (Robert) Beliveau; sister-in-law Vivian Fitzpatrick and numerous nieces and nephews.
Prayer Vigil was held Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Ross Funeral Chapel, Assiniboia, SK, led by Sherryl Lariviere. Funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. George’s Roman Catholic Church, Assiniboia, SK. Father Joy Montiague celebrant. Pallbearers were: Roy Beliveau, Joe Beliveau, Bruce Beliveau, Dale Rotariu, Clem Boisvert, John Fitzpatrick. Altar Servers were members of the Knights of Columbus. Dustin Beliveau and Megan Beliveau placed the Pall, Coletta Beliveau lit the Pascal Candle, Readers were Gina Beliveau, Rosemarie Rotariu, Offertory Gifts were presented by Brody Beliveau, Rosanna Beliveau and Tribute was given by Joe Beliveau. Music Ministry was led by, organist, Gail Delorme, Paul Lewans, and Raymond Mynett. Interment at Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia, SK. Donations in Memory of Howard may be made to the Ross Payant Nursing Home Auxiliary. Arrangements entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia, SK.
