

Ivor Huntley, of Limerick, SK, passed away September 20, 2013 at the Assiniboia Union Hospital, Assiniboia, SK. Ivor was born February 23, 1927 on the family farm, Limerick SK., the third child of Dick and Kathleen Huntley. He grew up in the area and attended Conifer School and Limerick School. In 1955 he took over the family farm and farmed with the Cranfields. From 1943 – 1966 he lived in Lafleche, SK and was employed by local farmers and did some trucking. Ivor also worked for the municipality of Wood River as grader operator, which eventually led to the foreman position. In 1966 he purchased a backhoe and worked with Al Emmons for a year. He returned to Limerick and with Bud Headrick formed a business - H&H Trenching and operated the backhoe business for 26 years. Ivor was active in the Fire Department and many community affairs.
Predeceased by an infant brother in 1919, and his parents, Kathleen (Crees) and Dick Huntley, Ivor is survived by one sister Marjorie Heyes-Toth of Scarborough, ON, niece Linda (Erwin) Wiens of Ottawa, and nephew Bob (Veronica) Heyes of Toronto and was like a grandfather to the Cranfield family.
Celebration of Ivor’s Life was held Wednesday, September 25, 2013 in the Limerick Community Hall, Limerick, SK. Reverend Linda Tomlinson-Seebach officiated. Tribute was given by Erwin Wiens and Barb Engel. Honor Guard was formed by members of the Limerick 49ers. Urn Bearers were: Keith Ackerman, Kirk Ackerman, and Ashley Ackerman. Interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery, Limerick, SK. Donations in Memory of Ivor can be made to the Limerick Centennial Park or to the Trinity United Church Memorial Fund.
