

James William Kyle of Moose Jaw, SK, formerly of Assiniboia, SK, passed away April 30, 2016 at age 80. Predeceased by parents William and Maude, one brother George and infant son Wesley, James is survived by his children: Shelly (Roy) Lamontagne, Darcy (Cherie) Kyle, Trina (Brandon) McLean and Darryl (Delee) Kyle; 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, sisters: Marg (Art)Cairns, Joyce (Roy) Powell, Barb (Walter) Smith and Sharon (Wayne) Blatchford; brothers: John (Carol) Anderson and Peter (Delores) Anderson as well as numerous nieces and nephews. James was born January 28, 1936 in Coronach, SK. He grew up on the farm in Buffalo Gap near Big Beaver, SK. He attended St. Jerome school near Buffalo Gap where he completed his grade nine. Growing up he enjoyed playing hockey, baseball, chasing cattle and riding horses with his good friend Milson Harris. Later he enjoyed curling, golfing, going to rodeos and riding in the trail rides. He enjoyed camping in the states with his brother-in-law Art. He often mentioned his dog named Sport that he would lock up in the barn and before he got to the house Sport would be beside him. Jim loved to visit with family and friends. He always enjoyed a good cigar usually a large white owl. Jim’s first job was with the CPR in Big Beaver then being transferred to McCord where he met Shirley Biffert. They were married March 7, 1958. They lived in McCord, Moose Jaw, Weyburn, Valor, Assiniboia, Big Beaver and after his divorce he moved to Regina. When they moved to Valor Jim started trucking for Freightways. He started training to buy grain in Rockglen in 1970. Moving to Big Beaver to buy grain for a year when his love of trucking called him back to Assiniboia in 1972 when he started J & K transport with Ken Fender. They hauled cattle for many years. When Jim and Shirley divorced he moved to Regina where he continued hauling cattle and pigs for Powers, Gibsons and Hyndmann and where he received his million mile award. Throughout his trucking career he travelled across Canada and the States seeing a lot of beautiful country. At the age of 73 he decided to end his career. He entered Providence Place August 21, 2012. Funeral service was held Thursday, May 5, 2016 in Ross Funeral Chapel, Assiniboia. Reverend Marilyn Leuty officiated and a tribute was given by his sister Joyce Powell. Pallbearers were: Wesley Lamontagne, Kevin Blatchford, Virgil Cairns, Rick Cairns, Allan Frank, and Larry Kerestech. Interment followed at the Coronach Cemetery.
