With great sadness, the family of John (Jack) Nathan Evans, would like to announce his sudden passing at the Radville Marian Health Centre on December 23, 2010. Jack will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Jack was predeceased by his wife Eva Evans, niece Patricia Frank and brother-in-law Elmer Hanson. He is survived by his sister Elva (Sally) Hanson, his niece Linda (Kaj) Olsen, great-nephew Shawn Olsen (Haley) and her two sons Braton and Kaiden, and great-niece Janel (Eric) Fazakas and their daughter Maraya. Jack had the honour in 2009 of becoming a great-great-uncle.
Jack reached a milestone of 90 years old in 2010 and he enjoyed his life to the fullest. His Anglican faith was very important to him and he truly enjoyed attending services. Jack was born on the Evans family farm on February 12, 1920 and attended the Lampton School. Jack married Eva Bond on June 7, 1975 in Regina. Following their marriage they made their home in Bengough district. In his younger days, Jack truly enjoyed farming and had a special love for working with livestock – especially cattle. He always had a soft spot for his pet dogs, saddle horses and was entertained by any type of rodeo sports. He had told his family within the last year that his heart would always be with horses and rodeo. He always liked to hear good old country and western music and was up for any type of wild west story. Jack liked to invent things and was always finding new ways to make things work. He had a sharp eye for detail and liked things “flashy” as he would put it – it didn’t matter what it was (a shirt or a car) but things just looked better with more flair. Jack retired from the farm and moved into the town of Bengough which left him and his wife Eva much time for attending rodeos and square dancing. Jack and Eva were avid square dancers and they were awarded 10 year pins. Jack was very proud of this and was very happy to display it on his wall. A few trips to Calgary Stampede were also taken and the stories were shared often. They were very lucky to travel to Ireland and meet with his relatives and tour the countryside. Jack still kept in contact with these relatives and often sent pictures to stay in touch.
Jack resided in the Bengough Health Centre until his passing and was able to enjoy his surroundings and do a lot of visiting with friends and family. He especially loved to keep on top of how farming was going and stay in touch with his family as they were important to him.
