
Laurette Spagrud (nee Aubert) of Assiniboia, Saskatchewan passed away April 2, 2016 at age 80. Predeceased by her husband Norman and brother Roland, Laurette is survived by five children: Suzanne Blair, Wendy Coons, John, Darlene Carruthers, and Philip; 16 grandchildren and 24½ great-grandchildren, sister Alice (André) Rondeau and sister-in-law Margaret Aubert as well as numerous relatives. Laurette was born November 23, 1935 in Assiniboia. She grew up in the St. Victor district and attended Montcalm School. She married Norman on August 30, 1956. Norman’s work led them to live in various parts of Saskatchewan. In 1967 the family settled on a farm in the Verwood community. Laurette enjoyed working with animals, cooking, baking but most of all spending time with family. Funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, April 6, 2016 in St. George’s Roman Catholic Church, Assiniboia. Father Joy Montiague was Celebrant. Candace Lippa and Cassandra Spagrud lit the Paschal Candle. Readers were: Nicole Fraser, Jason Blair, and Crystal Carruthers. Music Ministry was by led by Rita Rondeau-Cain with Gerald Rondeau and Gail Delorme. Urn Bearer was grandson Jamie Spagrud. Donations gratefully accepted for the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency. Arrangements entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia.
