Brenner – Leona Brenner of Coronach, SK passed away December 28, 2013 at the age of 91 at the Coronach Health Centre. Leona Patricia Ingram was born on February 24, 1922 to parents Leo and Margaret. She was born on the family farm southwest of Coronach. Leona attended Grange Corner Country School and completed her grade 10 there. She then went to work cleaning houses to help out her parents. She also helped care for her younger siblings, as she was the oldest of eleven children. She married Lawrence Brenner in 1943. They lived north of Coronach on Brenner Hill until they bought the McLeod farm west of Coronach. Along with farming the land, they raised chickens, pigs and milked cows. Leona also grew a huge garden. She loved gardening, baking, playing cards and dancing. She always said Lawrence and his brother Howard were the best dancers in Canada. Leona was well known for her delicious baking, especially her homemade buns, cinnamon rolls and raised doughnuts. Leona lived at Southwinds Manor in Coronach for 25 years, where she enjoyed visiting with the other seniors there. She enjoyed having coffee, playing cards (especially smear and cribbage), doing puzzles and having occasional meals in the rec room with the other residents in the building. She even grew a garden there for a number of years. Leona moved to the Coronach Health Centre in July, 2010 when it became too hard for her to take care of herself.
Predeceased by parents Leo and Margaret Ingram, husband Lawrence Brenner (1964), daughter Bev (2002), son Larry (2008), brothers, Robert, Jerry and Leo Ingram, sisters, Irene Ingram, Berniece Bostitch, Sharon Cook and Shirley Tower, Leona is survived by her children: Carol (Dwain) Willford, Ron Brenner (Jenn Duke), Pat (Melvin) Harkness, Diane (Gerald) Beausoleil, daughter-in-law Barbara Brenner, son-in-law Jake McDougal, sixteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, brothers, Bonner (Florence) Ingram, Don Ingram, sister Donna (Russell) Thurlow, sisters-in-law, Gladys Sanderson and Helen Ingram, good friends Kay and Raymond Anderson and Lydia Brillon as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
