

Lorna Rose Lloyd, daughter of Earl and Elizabeth (Roy) Cheney, was born August 8, 1915 in Bertha, Minnesota. Rose came to Canada in 1916 with her parents to a farm south of McCord in the Milly district. She attended Pebble Hill School. Rose married Edwin Roy Lloyd in 1935 and they continued to live in the Southview district until moving to the farm near Glentworth in 1951. Rose grew a large garden and enjoyed sewing.
Rose was a lifelong member of the United Church, a member of the UCW, served on the Board of Session and taught Sunday School. She was also active in the Come & Go Senior Citizens Club. In her early days, Rose played ball and also coached ball. In later years, she enjoyed bowling.
Predeceased by her husband Roy (1991), brothers: Francis (Gladys) Cheney, Henry (Edith) Cheney, Lavern (Inez) Cheney and sister Leona Kuryluk.
Rose is survived by sister-in-law Inez Cheney, brother-in-law Michael Kuryluk, and four children: Rae (Rita) of Bassano, AB, Dwayne (Darlene) Lloyd of Rosemary, AB, Elaine (Graeme) McIvor of Saskatoon, SK and Linda (David) Filson of Woodrow, SK; twelve grandchildren: Brent, Blaine, Byron, Blythe, Todd, Darren, Tamara, Nevin, Heidi, Christopher, Shaun and Kami; 26 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service was held at the Glentworth United Church, Sunday, February 26, 2012. Reverend Mathias Ross officiated. Tribute was given by granddaughter, Blythe. Honorary Pallbearers were Granddaughters and Acting Pallbearers were Grandsons. The organist was Marilyn Sandor. Interment followed in the Waverley Cemetery, Glentworth, SK. Donations in Memory of Rose can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia, SK.
