Margaret loved and personalized this:
The 23rd Psalm
The lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me. Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Margaret was born June 11, 1956 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and told many happy stories of her life on the little farm with mom, dad and her two brothers and two sisters. Margaret’s childhood and school years were spent in West St. Paul and Winnipeg. Margaret joined the Canadian Army Reserves at 18 where she made many new friends including her beloved husband, Dave whom she married in 1977.
After beginning their life together in Edmonton, they moved back to Winnipeg to raise their family. Margaret demonstrated her love for children by bringing several children into her home as she ran a daycare while her own children were growing up. As her children grew to be more independent, Margaret showed more of her creative side and love of flowers as a florist.
The time came for a new adventure with a family move to the small, welcoming community of Mankota where much of Margaret’s extended family also moved and felt very much at home. Margaret also truly enjoyed working at the daycare in nearby Ferland.
Margaret is survived by her beloved husband Dave, mother Roely Geerts, three children; Adrian, Ashley (Bryan), Emily-Kay (Michael) Harden; Oma to Adeline, Michael, Joelle (Adrian’s children) Saylor, Alabama (Ashley’s children), Rebecca, Elwood, Walter (Emily-Kay’s children). Margaret is predeceased by her father Adriaan Geerts.
Oma (Margaret) had a heartfelt desire and gift for nurturing, especially seen with her own children and grandchildren, the children at the daycare and in her gardens. Just as the seeds in those gardens had to be planted and die to bring forth new life, so also this body is sown in corruption to be raised in newness of life.
Thanks be to God who gives us the victory over death through our Lord Jesus Christ by faith in Him! I Corinthians 15
Margaret’s sure hope and confidence was in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and she is with Him now.
Graveside Service was held at the Mankota Cemetery, Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Rick Hawreschuk officiating.
