Marie Magdalen Nettie Mayell of Sherwood Park, Alberta formerly of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan (30 years) and Assiniboia, Saskatchewan (38 years) passed away on October 29, 2017 at Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 90 years. Marie was born July 17, 1927 at Wolseley, Saskatchewan on her Grandfather's farm (Sec. 19, Twp. 16, Rge. 9, West 2nd). She was raised in the community along with five siblings. Upon completing grade 8, Marie's family moved to Regina. In 1943 at the age of 16, she took a course in hair dressing. In 1947 she married Charles Mayell on June 7th and they farmed in the Congress area along with Charles's brother Harvey for the next 38 years. During that time they raised four daughters: Cosette, Eunice, Sharon and Kimberley. Marie was a farmer's wife, always dressed nicely and her hair was done up just right. She was an amazing cook and hostess to all who dropped by, as she always had a meal or coffee and a treat available. Her pie making skills were superior. She was extremely kind and helpful to all. On many occasions she would share her hair dressing skills with neighbors who required her services, at no charge. In the late 60's, Marie started working at "Service Jewelers" in Assiniboia. She continued working there until 1984 when Charles and Marie began building a new home in Moose Jaw. The full transition to the city occurred in 1985. The city girl gone famer's wife was now back in the city. Adding to Marie's cooking skills was the fact that she also had the best garden for miles around. She always enjoyed her house plants even up to her death. Her Christmas Cactus plants were amazing and she enjoyed propagating them so all her children could enjoy as well. She recently began working with orchids after receiving them as a gift. She had amazing success. Marie was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Charles (deceased in 2005), her three brothers: Albert, Benjamin and Henry LeGault, her in-laws Eunice Mayell, Ruth and Bill Reed as well as Ken Biernes and Bruce Craig. Left to mourn her passing are her four daughters: Cosette (Ken Wilson), Eunice ‘Natalie’ (Pat Wheatley), Sharon (Randy Forness) and Kimberley (Bob Shropshire); grandchildren (7), great-grandchildren (12) - Curtis/Barbara Wilson - (Aurelea), Scott Wilson, Tracy/Frank Hinks - (Payton and Sienna), step-grandsons - (Greg and Gerald Wheatley), Nicole/Keith Kelly, Natosha/Casurt Morgan - (Styles, Jazmin and Payton) Nadine/Jonas Tremel - (Dylan and Hailey), Tyler/Simona - (Jacob and Ella). Marie's "Celebration Of Life" was held at the Assiniboia Alliance Church on November 6, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Greg Dermody officiating. Tribute was delivered by daughter, Sharon. Pallbearers were grandchildren. Interment followed in Moose Jaw where Marie joins her husband Charles at the Rosedale Cemetery.
