Robert McGlynn, of Fir Mountain, Sask., passed away October 29th, 2013. He was born March 15th, 1941 on the family farm, Fir Mountain, Sask. He attended Plessis School. Bob has remained on the home farm, operating his mixed farm operation. Growing up in a very musical family, Bob made his first steel guitar out of planks and orange crates. He played for many performers throughout the area, and played with the Southern Four, Smiling Johnny, Swift Current Pioneers, Country Sunshine and with the Harden family. Bob performed live on radio stations. His music took him to most of the town halls south of the Trans Canada Highway as well as into Manitoba, Alberta and Montana.
Predeceased by parents, Art & Jennie McGlynn, brother Stephen James McGlynn, and nephew Robert McGlynn, Bob is survived by brother George, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Orthodox Funeral Service was held Monday, November 4th, 2013 in the Fir Mountain Community Hall, Fir Mountain, SK. Officiating Priest, Father Cosmin Sicoe was accompanied by Cantor, Raymond Mynett. Cross Bearer was George Marcenko, and Banner Bearers were Ken Hysuick, and Gerald Hysuick. Pallbearers were: Jay Fitzpatrick, Gerald Geoffrion, Riley Harden, Jim Laboccetta, Grant McLean, and Kenny Rivard. Interment followed at Transfiguration of Our Lord Orthodox Cemetery, Wood Mountain, Sask. Arrangements entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia, SK.
