Ron Mayes

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Ronald Alan Mayes on January 4, 2023 at the age of 65. Ron was born in Regina on December 20, 1957 and was the beloved son of the late Dan and Rose Mayes. He was a brother to the late Lawrence Mayes. Ron is survived by his loving wife Laureen, sister-in-law Carol Mayes, niece Rayna (Brandon) Cardinal, nephew Landon Mayes, mother-in-law Irene Brezinski, and sister-in-law Cynthia (Lindsay) Wolkowski. Ron was predeceased by his father-in-law, Ed Brezinski. Left to cherish his memory is a large extended family of relatives and friends.

Ron actively farmed a mixed grain and cattle operation with his parents and brother for many years. The harvest was a glorious time for Ron when the excitement reaped the reward of a year of hard work. Ron's passion for progressive agricultural practices was admirable.

Ron was a man who had a variety of interests. He was a proud board member of the United Grain Growers. In his younger years, he enjoyed recreational hockey, lacrosse, softball, bowling, and golfing. Ron shared an interest of rodeos with family relatives. He also had a passion for sports cars and riding his Harley motorcycles.

Ron and his loving wife, Laureen, were united in marriage on July 10, 1993 and would have celebrated thirty years of married life this coming July. Through the years, Ron and Laureen enjoyed travelling to the Caribbean, Disneyworld and Hawaii. They also enjoyed entertainment concert venues locally and across Canada.

Ron was a man who valued and practiced a hard work ethic. He was a man of precision and integrity. Ron, your journey was the epitome of approaching life circumstances with dignity and resolution. You now have journeyed home to a place of well-deserved rest and peace. Much love will follow you and know that your memory will forever be eternal and cherished.

An Orthodox Funeral Service for Ron was held Friday, January 13, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. George's Roman Catholic Church, 325 6th Ave. East, Assiniboia, SK. An Orthodox Prayer Service occurred Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 7:00 PM at St. George's Roman Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. E. Cristian Frunzulica officiating priest. Eulogy by sister-in-law, Carol Mayes and Tributes by niece/goddaughter, Rayna Cardinal and sister-in-law, Cynthia Wolkowski. Honorary Pallbearers were Bill & Heather Dyck, Daci & Carla Petersen and boys, Dusty & Laura Petersen and boys, Lee & Cindy Petersen. Pallbearers were Landon Mayes, Mike Mayes, Daci Petersen, Dusty Petersen, Wayne Sagin and Lindsay Wolkowski.
