
Rose was born on March 5, 1920 in the Dahinda District in the Kayville area, Saskatchewan. She was the fourth child in a family of nine. She lived and went to school in Regina for some of her youth, then returned home to work as a housekeeper for various families. She met her future husband, Andrew, while working for his brother and wife. They were married on July 7, 1939, the end of the Dirty Thirties and the start of the war. They lived on the homestead farm, in the Viceroy Area for a number of years until they bought a neighbouring farm where they moved to until retiring in Assiniboia where she lived till the present. They had two daughters, Gwen and Debbie. Rose spoke three languages, fluently - Romanian, English and Russian. She loved to sew and was a creative talented seamstress, often not using a pattern. She sewed both her daughters’ wedding gowns. Rose enjoyed music and loved to dance. She always had a large garden. Rose worked alongside her husband throughout their farming years. She was known to have a strong, independent spirit. Rose enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rose is predeceased by her husband, Andrew, sisters: Mary, Eva, Jean; brothers: Tom, Wesley, George; sister-in-law, Mary; brothers-in law: George, Joe, Andrew, Dan, Ernie and numerous nieces and nephews. She is survived by: sisters, Freda and Vicki; sisters-in-laws Kay and Marion, as well as numerous nieces and nephews; her children Gwen (Garth) Pinfold and their family: Aaron (Lynette), Zachariis, Desiree (Mike), Savannah; Cain (Elaine), Dillon (Megan), Tyson, Victoria; Carmela (Chris), Shanda, Keala; Debbie (Grant) Payant and their family: Genelle (Dallas), Sawyer; Robert (Shelley); Crystal (Travis), Rachelle, Gavin; Cole (Jody), Garner. Funeral Service was held at Ross Funeral Chapel, Monday, August 17, 2015. Reverend Pastor Greg Dermody officiated. Tribute was given by grandson Robert. As requested by Rose, the recessional was Romanian music of Elena Jonescu’s. Pallbearers were: Gerry Schmidt, Ron Daviduk, Eldridge Stianson, Barry Reisner, Leon Banadyga, and Larry Thorburn.
