
Ruby Eleanor (Kanten) Panzer passed away October 27, 2014 at the age of 90.
She was born July 7, 1924 at Assiniboia, SK to Pearl and Elmer Kanten, the eldest of 6 children.
She attended school at Kanten. In the fall of 1943, she worked for Ervin Benson’s White Rose Station. She married Reynold in 1944 and farmed in the Quantock area. Reynold was grain buyer and in 1962 they moved to Blaine Lake, SK. Here Ruby worked at the café and bakery. They eventually returned to the area, residing in Lisieux, where they cared for handi-capped people. In 1967 they moved to Rockglen, as worked as custodians of the Rockglen School.
Ruby enjoyed travelling, crafts, and quilting, bowling and helping in the community.
She is predeceased by a baby brother Carmen (11 month old), her parents Elmer and Pearl, husband, Reynold, sisters Marlene Nicholson and Eunice Bjornson and brother Ray Kanten, grandson Andrew Rayner and great-granddaughter Sapphira Panzer Goodwin, and sons-in-law Ted Rayner and Art Schnor.
Ruby is survived by one sister Violet Berg of Cranbrook, BC; sons, Lowen (Sonny) and Ken,
daughters, Lorraine (Sue) Rayner, Janice (Jim) Somers and Wanda Schnor; grandchildren Gordon (Colleen), Coreen (Randy) Karst, Craig (Laura) Somers, Connie (David) Potter,
Jason (Lisa) Somers, Jessie Dumelie, Carley Panzer, Noel Panzer, Aaron, Evan, Colin Schnor;
Great-grandchildren, Kimberly and Mathew Rayner, Reid and Taylor Karst, Brady Potter, Olivia and Ethan Somers, Isabella and Oscar Panzer, Cameron Panzer, and Brooklyn Schnor.
