Scott was predeceased by his father Alvin Peterson (1993), mother Alice Peterson (2022), sister-in-law Barb Peterson (1981), mother-in-law Karen Hooper (2022), father-in-law Billie Hooper (2022).
Scott was born on November 7, 1962, in Assiniboia, SK. Scott attended school in Assiniboia and later moved to Moose Jaw, SK, where he worked at Diversified Services for many years. Later, Scott got a job at Canadian Tire where he met his wife of almost 15 years, Theresa Hooper. In 2005 Scott got a position at Valley View Centre in the laundry department where he worked, up until their closure in 2015.
At a young age Scott became involved with the Special Olympics and continued to be involved up until time of his death. He was very proud of all his achievements he had participating in many sports such as floor hockey, bowling, curling, power lifting and bocce ball. Scott was a BIG hockey fan! He attended many Moose Jaw Warrior games over the years and followed the team via internet on his tablet when they were on the road. He also volunteered for the Moose Jaw AAA Warrior Organization for many years, goal judging and manning the penalty box. He was a proud uncle when his great nephew Daxin made the team. Scott also enjoyed watching football on TV, cheering on the Saskatchewan Roughriders; if you listened to the Rider post-game show on the radio you would often hear Scott calling in giving his take on the game. In 2016 Scott and Theresa got their Yorkie cross dog named “Rocky”. Rocky was very special to Scott; he took him for many walks around the trailer court and park over the years. Scott and Theresa enjoyed going out for coffee with friends, going to their houses to watch movies and play video games or attending all his great niece Lakeda’s softball games in Moose Jaw. Scott was a social butterfly; he wasn’t afraid to introduce himself to a stranger. It was amazing how he could connect with people and never had a problem carrying on a conversation. He took great pride in his family and friends. He kept up with everyone by phone calls, texts, or messaging on Facebook.
Scott was very proud of his nephews, and their children. He was always phoning and checking in on how everyone was doing at work, school, or sports. Since, he was able to watch Lakeda and Daxin play in Moose Jaw all the time, there were numerous calls made checking in on Shayde to see how he was making out with his hockey. He would also make calls out to Calgary to keep up on Alyssa and her skipping and Asher and his hockey.
Scott will be greatly missed by his wife Theresa, brother Ron, and sister Faye, nephews Trevor (Jolene) and Jeff (Kristi), and great nephews and nieces, Shayde, Lakeda and Daxin, Alyssa and Asher, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. We love you Scott and you will always be remembered in our hearts.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Regina General Hospital and a special thanks to Anette at Ross Funeral Home.
Donations in memory of Scott may be made to Moose Jaw Special Olympics and Canadian Mental Health Association. Many wore a hockey jersey or Saskatchewan Roughriders jersey in honour of Scott.
