Vern was born to Joe and Catherine Pinfold on December 26, 1934, in Moose Jaw. He grew up on the family farm in the Davyroyd district, where he attended school until grade 10. He then moved to live with his sister, Kay at Tisdale, SK to further his education. He returned to the farm to help his dad.
In 1960, Vern met Donna Schoffer at a dance in Readlyn. They married in 1962 and lived in Readlyn for two years. They then moved to the farm in Davyroyd district, where they raised their children, Clayton, Wanda and Todd. They retired in 2002 and moved to Assiniboia.
Vern had many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed all sports, whether it was playing or watching. Reading was a great passion. He spent many winter evenings engrossed in a good murder mystery novel. He enjoyed fishing with his buddies, then later with his kids and grandkids. Many summers were spend camping at Oro Lake with family and Davyroyd neighbours.
Vern took immense pride in being a farmer. He loved his cows and passed that love to Clayton. Right before his passing, he was asking Clayton about his calves. He was always on hand to help his neighbours.
Vern’s greatest love was for his family. He was always there when he was needed by his wife, kids, and grandkids. His big bear hugs will be so missed by us all. He was such a loving kind soul.
Vern leaves to mourn, the love of his life of 63 years, wife Donna; three children: Clayton (Andi & Ryder – Ellie, Hudson; Mitch & Robbie - Bowen); Wanda & Mike (Stephanie & Travis – Wren, Fallon; Grady – Elsie, Sadie; Keenan); Todd & Elva (Terry); his sister-in-law Bernice Woolhouse, brother-in-law Lyle Schoffer, numerous nieces and nephews.
