Violet Alberta Benson

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Violet Alberta Benson (nee Perrier) on March 25, 2017 at age 97. She was born June 6, 1919 at Malta, Montana and raised at Forbes, North Dakota. She moved to the Rockglen District with her parents when she was eight. She remained in the Rockglen, Scout Lake, Lisieux and Assiniboia communities for the rest of her life. Predeceased by her husband Clarence in 2008, her parents Albert & Dora Perrier, 9 brothers and sisters and grandson Shane Craig, she is survived by her four children: Valda (Don) Craig, Lonnie (Louise), Glenis and Corilea (Clarence Peter); grandchildren: Sheree (Mark) Pirie, Trisha (Doug) McLay, Tyler Benson, Gillis Benson-Scollon, and great-grandchildren: Alexander Young, Kailey & Nicholas McLay and Spencer, Ainsley and Bennett Pirie. Funeral service was held at Messiah Lutheran Church, Assiniboia, SK on Saturday, April 1, 2017. Pastor Doug Miner officiated. Tribute delivered by her family. Organist was Judy Chubb. Pallbearers were: Lorie Benson, Marlin Benson, Trevor Benson, Lonnie Benson, Don Craig, and Clarence Peter. Interment at Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia.
