Wanda Pawlowski

It is with great sadness that we announce Wanda Pawlowski, (nee Hildebrand) of Assiniboia, SK, former longtime resident of Limerick, SK, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at the age of 87 at Assiniboia Union Hospital Long Term Care in Assiniboia, SK. Wanda was born on November 1, 1935, in Rozdzalow, Poland. She was the second child born to Stanley and Anna (Drzystek) Hildebrand. Wanda married Kazimierz Pawlowski in Pelnatycze, Poland on June 16, 1957. Kazimierz, Wanda, and son John moved to Canada in May of 1964 to join Wanda’s family who had settled in Limerick. Wanda was a superb seamstress. She created beautiful clothes for family and people in Limerick and surrounding communities. She also quilted, knitted, and crocheted. Numerous blankets were made for her children and grandchildren, these remain precious keepsakes to this day. She valued time with her family: playing ‘chicken foot’- a domino game, a must at family gatherings, especially with the grandchildren. She was a fabulous cook and baker. Wanda enjoyed a wide range of activities including gardening, both vegetables and flowers, playing cards, especially cribbage, playing bingo and dancing polkas and waltzes. Wanda and Kazimierz enjoyed travelling and were lucky enough to get back to the “old country” a couple of times. Her faith and community were an important part of her life. She was a longtime member of the CWL, Limerick 49er’s Club, and Rebekkas, she spent many hours volunteering at the Limerick Community Hall and Parish Hall.

Predeceased by Kazimierz, her husband of 59 years (August 2016), her brother John Hildebrand and her brother-in-law Nick Pana. Wanda is survived by son John (Lindsay), daughter Ann Kinchen; grandchildren: Jaimee (Dan), Nikki, Eric, Jenna (Cody), Jared and Cynara; six great-grandchildren: Ellyott, Theodore, Wilder, Sutton, Anthony, and Sydney. She will be missed by her sister Lucille Pana, sister-in-law Geraldine Hildebrand as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Prayer Service was held Sunday, July 9, 2023 at 7:00PM and Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, July 10, 2023 at 1:30PM both services were held at St. George's Roman Catholic Church, Assiniboia, SK. Celebrant was Father Andrew Pawlowicz, Honour Guard, Altar Servers were members of the CWL, Tribute delivered by Donna Hildebrand and Music Ministry was led by Carol Marit. Pallbearers were Eric Pawlowski, Jared Kinchen, Dan Lysack, Henry (Hank) Hildebrand, Ed Hildebrand and Nicholas Pana. Interment was at Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia, SK. Donations in memory of Wanda may be made to St. George’s Roman Catholic Church Memorial Fund or South Country Health Care Foundation for the Assiniboia Union Hospital.
