Jenna Bodil (“Miss Byrd”) Hansen, 39, passed away on May 5, 2016, at her parents' home in Atascadero after a long battle with ovarian cancer. She leaves behind her parents, Jens and Linda Hansen, and two older sisters, Heather and Kristin. She also leaves her aunt and uncle, Dale and Kathy Bauer, of Laverne, California, and her Atascadero cousins, the Hart family: Dick and Jeri Hart, Troy and Debbie Hart, Makenzie, Justin, and Nikayla and Dr. Darren Hart. In addition, she leaves behind her pets, a tortoise named Mr. T and her cat Muffy. A longtime resident of Oakland, California, Jenna loved hiking, walking, biking and exploring the city. She loved to cook gourmet meals and spend time with her friends and family. She was a great lover of all of nature, particularly birds, and was so happy to see the ducks return to Atascadero Lake this spring. She loved the morel mushroom-hunting trips she took with her dad to McCall, Idaho, every year in the spring. She was musically talented with an award-winning singing voice, played drums and the piano. She graduated from Arcadia High School in Southern California where she was a member of the show choir and attended Laney College in Oakland and New College in San Francisco. She had her own business as a title research analyst for mortgage companies with many clients who expressed how much they will miss her service. She was deeply loved and is greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Many have called her “a bright light” in their lives and one person expressed that knowing her was “the best thing that ever happened to me.” We are all happy that she has found Heavenly peace at last. A celebration of life service is being planned by her friends in Oakland on June 12, 2016. Because of her love for animals, donations in her name are asked to be given to veterinary research at the University of California Davis, following this link: http://www.plumfund.com/charity-fundraising/small-animal-clinic-charity. She will be buried in the Hansen cemetery located on the family farm in Geuda Springs, Kansas. Her family would like to thank Wilshire Hospice and especially Kat and Alicia for their loving kindness and wonderful care during the past six months.
