“Weasy” as she was affectionately known to family and friends, died Dec. 26, 2014. She was born the last of five children, and the only daughter, to Clarence Casteel and Ethel Heaton Casteel. Her childhood years were spent on the Casteel family ranch located west of Templeton in the Willow Creek area. It was one of the earliest vineyards in SLO North County. Despite losing a brother at an early age, and their home being destroyed by fire, Mom always said they were fun filled years. After graduation from high school, mom worked for a short time in Los Angeles, but the city life wasn’t for her. She returned home and shortly thereafter met my Dad, Ross Scott. They married in 1937. My brother, Ivan, was their first child, and I came 2 years later. In the early 1950’s, Mom became interested in the Bible, and after serious study and research, she became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and made her dedication to our creator, Jehovah. The rest of her life, she was involved in the ministry alongside my dad until his death in 1982. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Leslie, Harlan, Melvin and Elvin; my dad, Ross Scott and my brother, Ivan Scott. She is survived by myself, June Scott Everett; son in law, Neal Everett and daughter in law, Sally Scott. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Jon Everett (Lisa), Yantzee Everett (Lynnell), Beth Stewart, and Micah Scott (Rachel). She has four great grandchildren, Neal Everett, Gabby Everett, Deja Stewart and newly arrived Preslee Scott, plus many nieces and nephews. I would especially like to give a big thanks to my sister in law, Sally. First for the 20+ years she cared for my brother through his lengthy illness and for the loving and attentive care given to Mom in her last few months. A graveside service has been held. There will be a memorial service at the Templeton Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 960 Bennett Way, Templeton, CA on Sat. Jan. 17, 2015 at 2:00pm.
