Roger Hans Larsen

Roger Hans Larsen, 69, of Nipomo, CA, passed away on July 30, 2016 in San Luis Obispo, CA after a courageous battle with cancer. Roger is survived by his son Joshua, grandsons Riley and Toby, granddaughter Kirsten, and sisters Eileen McAulay (Marty) and Alice Henson (Peter). He is also survived by his stepchildren Jody Hamby, Shelly Boronda and Tom Boronda via his previous marriage to dear friend Joy King. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Elizabeth Larsen and his brother Tommy. Roger grew up in Templeton attending schools there from K through 12; he also attended Bethel Lutheran Church. After high school Roger attended Taft college; after graduating from Taft he joined the US Army and served in Vietnam. Soon after his discharge he returned to Templeton and raised a family. Roger moved to Nipomo at age 65 to be near his grandchildren. He and his little "Buggie", Riley, enjoyed spending lots of time together going through the car wash, playing at Chuck E Cheeses, and watching Spongebob with a bowl of Cheetoes. His favorite hobbies included rock/gem prospecting, coin collecting and fishing. He was loved and cherished by his son, Josh, and daughter in-law, Julie. In fact, he was loved by all who knew him. He gifted others with his calm demeanor and kind soul, always being available to help or offer sound advice when needed. His selfless and generous nature will forever be a guiding light to all he leaves behind. A memorial service will be held on August 12 at 11:00am at the Templeton Bethel Lutheran Church. The service will be followed by a BBQ lunch at the Parish Hall.
