Vicky was born in Atascadero, California on March 11, 1965 to parents Jan and Milt Duniven. After graduating Atascadero High School in 1983, Vicky married James Duty and raised two children. Vicky developed a love for horses at a young age and throughout her life was involved in the Atascadero Wranglerettes, Vaqueras del Camino (VDC) women’s riding club, and Backcountry Horsemen of California. Vicky also loved the Lord and built lifelong friends through her church.
She is survived by two children, Jacob Duty and Jessica Beatty, and one grandchild, Alexandra. She is also survived by her mother, Jan, brother, Alan, and sister, Annette. Her father, Milt died in 2010.
Among other illnesses, Vicky battled a rare auto-immune disease, Myasthenia Gravis (MG), for over 20 years and was an inspiration and mentor to the MG community. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in her honor to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation.
She was known by her tenacity, zeal for life, huge smile, relentless energy, and love for God. She lit up any room she walked into and will be dearly missed by all who loved her. Vicky will be laid to rest in the fountain courtyard at the Chapel of the Roses cemetery in Atascadero.
