Charnie Staggs

Mr. Charnie Staggs passed on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at his residence. A committal service will be held at Roselawn Cemetery in Decatur, AL at 1P.M.

Visitation will be Wednesday February 15,, 2012 from 6-9P.M. At McConnell Funeral Home.

Mr. Staggs was born June 13, 1927 to Raymon Staggs and Nellie Jewel (Green) Staggs. He was a member of Clements Baptist Church. He served in the US Navy from 1945 – 1947, Master Mason Town Creek Lodge, assisted with development of Clements Volunteer Fire Dept. He also worked at Greyhound CORP. for 14 years, business agent Local 1303 A.T.W. Union, Chicago, owner Lee- Hi service in Athens, AL, owner of Simmons Fastener.

Mr. Staggs was preceded in death by his parents, Raymon and Nellie Staggs, Clyde Staggs, Malcom Staggs, George Edward Staggs, all brothers of deceased.

Mr. Staggs is survived by his wife of 65 years Emogene (Jean) Staggs; daughter Marion Staggs McLaughlin and husband Gary; brothers James Staggs; Ray Staggs; Rufus Staggs; Thomas Lendon Staggs, Michael Staggs; sisters Mary Arnold; Faye Clayton; Marie Hall; Nell Thompson; Billie Seagle; grandchildren Abby Kirsten Breyer and husband Nate; Jordan Hunter McLaughlin; Jill Alexandra Shepherd and husband Kyle; great grandchildren Calvin Breyer, and Audra Breyer.

Pallbearers will be Danny King, Danny Smith, Lenzy Bates, Dwight Bridges, Sam Putman, and Hermas Jones.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Chad Dawson, and Don Hutto.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Clements Volunteer Fire Dept.
