Ella Elizabeth Carr Peek

Visitation will be Thursday, January 12, 2017 11:45-1:45 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Peek passed away Sunday January 8, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 3, 1916 in Limestone County, AL to Kimzy Carr and Florence Powers Carr.

Mrs. Peek attended school at Tanner and at age 17 she went to Decatur, AL and enrolled in cosmetology school. After completing her course in 1934 at age 18 she opened her beauty salon on Washington St in the back of Taylor’s Barber Shop, which is now Razor’s Edge. She attended Northside Church of Christ.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother James T. Carr, sister Verna Crockett, and one niece Sheila Carr Simms.

She is survived by her one son Joseph Verner and wife Jeannette of Manchester, TN, one daughter Carol Hayes and husband Bennett of Athens, AL; four granddaughters Barbara V. Smith and husband Marty, Sandy Verner, Sherri V. Prestwich and husband Jeff, Lynn Hodges and husband Wade; two great grandsons Ian Smith and wife Noelle, Evan Smith; step grandson Randal Peek, step granddaughter Deborah P. Jones; three great step grandsons Stephen Hodges, Austin Hodges, Peter Prestwich.

Pallbearers will be Steven Hodges, Wade Hodges, Randall Peek, Marty Smith, Ian Smith, Evan Smith and Jeff Prestwich.
