He passed away Monday, June 13, 2011, at home.
Elmer Daily Clay was born Aug. 27, 1918, in Tennessee to George Pearl Clay and Nora Lee Baxter Clay. He retired from the U.S. Army after 25 years of service. He served in World War II and in the Korean War.
After retirement, he worked for civil service at Fort Knox, Ky. He was a member of the American Legion, DAV and VFW. He was also a member of Berea Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Clay is survived by his wife, Marjorie Clay; son, Jimmy Clay and wife Sadie; stepdaughters, Joyce Englan, Patricia Haggard, and Kathy Hemphill; stepson, Jimmy Crawford; grandchildren, Jimmy Clay Jr. and wife Tabitha, Tina Morrison, Beverly Johnson and Steve Morrison; great-grandchildren, Shelby and Brady Clay; several great-great-grandchildren.
