Emogene (Jean) Staggs

The funeral service for Emogene (Jean) Staggs, age 88 of Athens, will be Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 2 p.m. at McConnell Memorial Chapel with Fred Lackey officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12 until 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery in Decatur, AL

Mrs. Staggs passed away Friday, June 10, 2016 at her residence. She was born January 13, 1928 in Wheeler, Alabama to John Simmons and Alice Jackson Simmons.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Staggs assisted with the development of Clements Volunteer Fire Department.

Mrs. Staggs was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charnie (Chuck) Staggs, one sister, Libby Hutto, and one brother, Howard Simmons.

Survivors include her daughter, Marion Staggs McLaughlin and husband Gary of Plainfield, IL; one sister, Bernice Hutto; grandchildren, Abby Kirsten Breyer and husband Nate; Jordan Hunter McLaughlin and wife Heather, Jill Alexandra Shepherd and husband Kyle; great-grandchildren, Calvin Breyer , Audra Breyer, Charlie Jane McLaughlin, Laney Renee McLaughlin and Finnegan Shepherd.

Pallbearers will be; Jordan McLaughlin, Chad Dawson, Danny King, Hermas Jones, Wally Gordon, and Dwight Bridges.
