Mr. Hollis O'Neal Bates

The funeral service for Mr. Hollis O’Neal Bates, 88, of Athens, will be Thursday December 1, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at McConnell Memorial Chapel with Bud White officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 30, 2011 from 6:00 – 9:00 P. M. at McConnell Funeral Home.

Mr. Bates passed away, November 28, 2011 at Limestone Health Facility.

Mr. Bates was born March 30, 1923 in Limestone County to Lake Collins Bates and Lou Ethel Bates.

He is survived by sons David E. Bates and wife Diane; Roger D. Bates all of Athens, AL; daughter Vikki B. Jones and husband David; brother Edsel Bates of Athens, AL; sisters Evelyn Patterson and husband James Ross of Cowan, TN, Tula Craig and husband James of Athens, AL; Ethelene Haraway and husband Jerry of Rogersville, AL; Grandchildren Tim Bates, Corrie Bielfield, Daniel and Drew Bates, Tori Jones, Nikki Colwell; 10 Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Gladys Eubanks Bates for 68 Years, and brother Quinton Bates

Pallbearers will be Daniel Bates, Drew Bates, David Jones, Tyler Bates, Roger Bates, Terry Andrews.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.
