Joyce Evelyn Richardson

Mrs. Richardson died on Monday, Feb. 9, 2026 at her home of over 65 years.

She was born almost a century ago on February 29, 1929 to William Claude and Tera Lucille Coats. She was an accomplished seamstress, dedicated homemaker, retired cotton picker and lifelong member of Copeland Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her two sisters, Claudine Odell and Martha Jo McClendon, and most of her lifelong friends.

She is survived by her son Dan Richardson (wife Barbara) of Atlanta, daughter Lynn Johnson of Athens, grandchildren Danielle Chouinard, David Richardson (Laura), Jake Richardson, Cody Richardson (Sabrina), Allison Bains (Jarrod), Will Hargrove (Maggie) and great grandchildren Jim Chouinard, Eloise Chouinard, Charlotte Richardson, Hazel Hargrove and Willow Hargrove and quite a few nieces and nephews. She was treasured by each and everyone who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Copeland Presbyterian Church or Hospice of Limestone County. A special thanks goes to her dedicated care givers over the last 15 months, Beth Richardson, Sue Newberry, and Lana and Jerome Royster.
