
The Funeral for Mrs. Margaret Crouch Zirbel, age 87 of Athens, AL, will be Wednesday April 24, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Sardis Springs Baptist Church with Brother Tim Keenum, and Brother Keith Crouch officiating. Eulogy will be by Anthony Zirbel.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday April 23, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Zirbel passed away Monday, April 22, 2013 at Athens Limestone Hospital.
Mrs. Zirbel was born October 7, 1925 in Athens, Alabama to Frank William Crouch and Enola Hargrove Crouch. She was a homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a Teacher’s Aide at Johnson Elementary, Sunday school and Vacation Bible School Teacher at Sardis Springs Baptist Church. She was a member of Athens Garden Club and a member of Sardis Springs Baptist Church for 64 years. Her hobbies were quilting, crocheting, camping, gardening, playing cards with dear friends and family, and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers Frank Crouch, Jr. and Clifton H. Crouch.
She is Survived by her husband Thomas Edward Zirbel of 68 years of Athens; sons Clifton Edward Zirbel of Athens; Thomas Larry Zirbel and wife Merian of Athens; Frederick Dale Zirbel and wife Kay of Huntsville; John Mark Zirbel and wife Sharon of Athens; sisters Anne C. Turner, Betty C. Gamble, Faye C. Lee, Judy C. Crow and husband Wayne, and sister in law Eunice Crouch; 6 grandchildren Chris Zirbel and wife Michelle, Zane Zirbel, Amy Zirbel Dison and husband Jonathon, Lindsey Zirbel McConnell and husband Danny, Shana Zirbel Smith and husband Crutcher, John Zirbel, Jr. and wife Ericka; 10 great grandchildren Cole, Cooper, and Audrey Zirbel, Julie Dison, Andrew and Alexander McConnell, Sullivan and Trip Smith, Emily Frances and Maggie Zirbel;3 step grandchildren Seth Johnson and wife Jill, Michael Johnson and wife Kelli, Jami Peyton and husband Mike;6 step great grandchildren Andrew Dickson, Maggi Peyton, Nate Johnson, Anna, Ava and Will Johnson, several nieces and nephews and a host of special friends.
Pallbearers will be Chris Zirbel, Zane Zirbel, John Zirbel, Jr., Jonathon Dison, Danny McConnell and Crutcher Smith.
In Lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Sardis Springs Baptist Church Van Fund or a favorite charity.
