

Martha Edgin Lowery, 78, of Athens Alabama passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on the early morning of May 13th, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Oma Harris of Monette, Arkansas, and others from Arkansas including her brother Lloyd Harris and wife Betty and their daughter, her sister Janie Taylor and husband Eddie.
She is survived by her sister Marquella Harris of Searcy Arkansas and her daughter Tyronza Ridinger and husband Tom of Athens Alabama. She is also survived by her granddaughter Morgan Sandin and husband Daniel of Marietta Georgia, along with her grandson J.T Ridinger and wife Mercedes of Nashville Tennessee. Her great grandchildren are Graham Sandlin and Bridget Sandlin. Also survived by 2 nieces and 2 nephews, and their children of Arkansas.
She was born November 17, 1946 in Bladenboro North Carolina, and was raised in the small rural town of Monette Arkansas. After marrying John Edgin in 1964, they soon moved to the Flint Michigan area where she lived for 15 years. In 1980, she moved to Athens Alabama. She was a bookkeeper and later worked for General Motors in Decatur Alabama and Shreveport Louisiana, where she retired after 23 years.
She enjoyed reading, watching mystery shows, gardening, and hard-work in general. She also enjoyed caring and being with her grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors Sunday May 18th, 2025 from 2:00pm-4:00pm at McConnell funeral home in Athens, with the funeral following at 4:00pm. A graveside service will follow at Roselawn cemetery.
