Martha Beasley McConnell

Funeral service will be Monday, August 29th at 1 p.m. at McConnell Memorial Chapel with Ray Blankenship officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 11 to 12:45. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery.

Mrs. McConnell was born September 21, 1933 in Limestone County to John C. Beasley and Robbie Corder Beasley. She was retired from General Motors.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward Leo “Billy” McConnell, 3 brothers, John C. Beasley II, Thomas W. Beasley, Robert C. Beasley, 2 sisters, Clara McConnell and Mary Sigler.

Survivors include: 3 daughters, Anita Bowers and husband Randy of Hendersonville, TN; Janet Greene of Decatur; Jean Laxson and husband John of Athens; 4 brothers, Aubrey Beasley of Rogersville; Doyle “Jeep” Beasley of Lester; Herman Beasley of Lester; Joel Beasley of Athens; 1 sister, Lucille McConnell of Lester; 6 grandchildren, Lindsey Gable and husband Jeremy; Lance Greene, Stefan Bowers and wife Kayla; Juliana Bowers, Jordan Laxson, Jared Laxson and wife Rachel, 2 great-grandchildren, Kyleigh Beth Gable and Nash Bray Bowers.

Pallbearers will be Jordan Laxson, Jared Laxson, John Laxson, Stefan Bowers, Randy Bowers, Lance Greene, and Jeremy Gable.
