Mary Beth Fossett

She was born in Athens, Alabama on December 26, 1965, to Gerald Randy Fossett and Elizabeth Bailey Fossett.

Mary Beth was a graduate of Athens High School Class of 1984 where she was head majorette with the Golden Eagle marching band and attended the University of Alabama where she was a Bama Bell athletic hostess. She had a compassionate and caring heart and spent a large part of her life caring for animals.

Mary Beth was preceded in death by her father, G. Randy Fossett, and is survived by her mother, Elizabeth B. Fossett of Athens, Alabama; sister, Melanie F. Varnell and her husband Thomas O. Varnell of Orange Beach, Alabama; nephew, Paul W. Varnell and fiancée Celia Herreros both of Culver City, California; nephew, William T. Varnell, and wife Rebekah of Harvest, Alabama; and great-niece, Elizabeth G. Varnell.

A Visitation will be held at McConnell Funeral Home in Athens, Alabama on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. with a graveside service to follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Athens, Alabama with Neal H. Flum officiating.

Pallbearers will be William T. Varnell, William R. “Trey” Bailey, III, Judge Charles C. Woodroof, Neal H. Flum, Martin Bailey, and Steve Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be Paul W. Varnell and Kevin Robinson.
